Two lawyers, two doctors, and an army officer walk into a Zoom meeting and make Bright the best digital social community in the world. The team’s education and diversity of experience have given us the tools to confront some of the toughest tech and social problems.
At Bright, we are serious about delivering the best possible experience for our Members. We know that’s what everyone says, and, no, we don’t believe them when they say it either. So how are we different? Our Members are not data points or marketing targets on Bright because we are a Members-only social network, not a surveillance and marketing machine.
Over the last nine months, we have been working hard to develop our brand and build an online following. We have also made our MVP (minimal viable product), and many of you have helped us test and review that App. We think that compared to the current crop of social media apps, it is fresh and, well, Bright. The MVP has allowed us to test design ideas rapidly, refine the design to increase accessibility, deploy novel technical approaches to complex problems, and gather fantastic feedback. The most repeated feedback so far is that the App feels "fresh" and "professional ." All feedback is valuable but some of our other favourites are that the app is friendly, safe, refined, and inspiring. Thank you!
We are now at the point where we need to provide a smoother, faster app experience built on a system that can scale into the millions as our membership grows. We will also add some of the new features from our product roadmap and launch our UK and North American marketing campaigns to drive membership growth.

...by crowdfunding, we are hoping to democratise the company’s ownership
If you’re a start-up, there are several ways to raise capital. We considered all options and believe crowdfunding is the best choice for us. We are a Member-centred social network built for and by our Members. Crowdfunding will democratise the company’s ownership and add another layer of accountability. It allows Members to truly own part of their social media network.
Raising any kind of capital is hard work and crowdfunding is no exception. We've worked with ISQ Crowd Funding to prepare for the campaign. After weeks of preparation, our campaign will be live on Seedrs before the end of the month.
We took advice from Iglika Ghouse, author of our four-part guide to crowdfunding, and chose to work with Pangaea TV to create our video, which we'll be able to share next week.
Working with Dave and his team was exceptional. They helped us to refine the script for the pitch and the look and feel of the video presentation. After a full day of recording and several run-throughs, we celebrated a good day’s effort with a small toast and not a little relief that we were done!
We are very excited to see the results of our effort, and we are even more excited to see what all of you think. We hope that many of you will be able to take advantage of the crowdfunding opportunity and own your very own piece of Bright.
If you are interested in getting a private preview of the campaign, please take a look at our pre-registration page, and fill in a few simple details we will get back to you very shortly. The private preview will go live later this month, and the campaign will be open to the public shortly afterwards.
